1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of:
- widemath.com and the scientific calculator at /scientific-calculator/
- Related documentation, guides, and content
- The WideMath Scientific Calculator browser extension
By accessing or using the services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the services.
2. Our services
WideMath (Appynox) provides a free, browser-based scientific calculator with Casio-style workflows, documentation, and an optional Chrome / Chromium side-panel extension. Features may change, improve, or be discontinued over time.
The services are provided for personal, educational, and general productivity use unless we state otherwise in writing.
3. Eligibility
You may use the services if you can form a binding contract under applicable law. If you use WideMath on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization.
4. License to use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the website and extension for their intended purpose, subject to these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer (except where applicable law allows), resell, or redistribute the services as a competing product without our prior written permission—except for ordinary personal backups of content you lawfully downloaded for your own use.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the services in any way that violates applicable law
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape aggressively, or compromise the security of the website or infrastructure
- Misrepresent WideMath as an official Casio product or as endorsed by Casio
- Use automated systems to abuse analytics, hosting, or rate limits
- Upload or transmit malware through any feedback or contact channel
6. No guarantee of calculation accuracy
The calculator uses numerical and symbolic methods running in your browser. Results may differ from other calculators, textbooks, or exam-board expected formats due to rounding, mode settings, domain restrictions, edge cases, or software bugs.
You are responsible for verifying results that matter—especially in coursework, professional work, engineering, finance, medicine, or safety-critical contexts. WideMath is not a certified measurement instrument and is not intended as the sole authority for high-stakes decisions.
7. Exams & academic integrity
Online and browser-based calculators are often not permitted in formal examinations. Always follow your school, university, or exam board rules. WideMath is intended for practice, homework checking, teaching demos, and everyday calculation—not as a substitute for approved exam hardware when rules require it.
You are responsible for using the tool in a manner consistent with your institution’s academic integrity policies.
8. Intellectual property & trademarks
The WideMath / Appynox name, site design, documentation, and original software presentation are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Trademark notice: Casio and fx-991ES PLUS are trademarks of Casio Computer Co., Ltd. WideMath / Appynox is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Casio. References to Casio-style or fx-991ES PLUS–style workflows describe compatibility of layout and features for educational familiarity only.
9. Third-party services
The website may load or link to third-party services (for example analytics providers, CDNs, fonts, or external documentation). Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party content or practices.
10. Browser extension
If you install the WideMath Scientific Calculator extension from the Chrome Web Store (or sideload a package we distribute), you additionally agree to the store’s terms and to use the extension only for its stated purpose: providing a scientific calculator UI.
We may update the extension to fix bugs, improve layout, or change features. You can uninstall it at any time from your browser’s extension manager.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
We do not warrant that the services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that results will meet your requirements.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WIDEMATH / APPYNOX AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES—EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (IF ANY), OR (B) USD $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.
13. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless WideMath / Appynox and its contributors from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the services or your violation of these Terms.
14. Changes to the service or terms
We may update these Terms or the services at any time. The “Last updated” date will change when Terms are revised. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the services.
15. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or restrict access to the website or extension distribution if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, if required by law, or if needed to protect the service or other users. You may stop using the services at any time.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where the WideMath operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise. Courts in that jurisdiction shall have exclusive venue for disputes that cannot be resolved informally, except where prohibited by law.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
