A math game with your own questions

Type up to 20 questions and turn them into a free garden maths game, with no sign-up or account. Keep the order you wrote or shuffle it.

Ready-made:
Play this game

Each question uses its own counting, adding, taking-away, equal-groups or sharing scene, with a voice reading it aloud. You can share the game as a link.

How do I turn homework into a game?

Type the number questions into the box here or choose "Make your own game" on the game's start page.

For example, enter 2+3, 7-2, 3x2, 6/2, 8. A plain 8 asks your child to count out eight strawberries. Each kind of question plays in its own scene. A custom game does not change your child's level. It ends with a star and "Play again".

Copy the questions you want to use from the homework, then check the limits below. Any question outside them is listed with the reason and is not played. This version uses small amounts, so some questions on the homework sheet may need to stay on paper.

What can I put in the question box?

Use questions that fit the counting, adding, taking-away, multiplying and dividing limits shown here.

QuestionIn a linkAlso typed asWhat the child doesLimits in this version

Divide6div26/2, 6÷2, 6:2share 6 strawberries fairly onto 2 plates2 to 4 plates, 1 to 5 on each, none left over

A link holds up to 20 questions, separated by commas, after https://widemath.com/basic-arithmetic-animation/play/?q=, and plays them in that order. For example https://widemath.com/basic-arithmetic-animation/play/?q=2plus3,7minus2,3x2,6div2,8 plays 2 + 3, 7 - 2, 3 × 2, 6 ÷ 2, then counting out 8. Add &order=mix to shuffle. A ready-made set is ?set= and its name, for example https://widemath.com/basic-arithmetic-animation/play/?set=make-10. Use plus, minus, x and div in links: a + inside a link is read as a space.

For multiplication, 3x2 means three plates with two strawberries on each. For division, 6/2 means six strawberries shared fairly onto two plates, with three on each. The answer names the amount on each plate. See equal groups and sharing and grouping for the two explanations.

The limits are: counting 1 to 10; adding with totals up to 10; taking away from up to 10, removing up to 5; multiplying 2 to 4 plates with 2 to 5 on each; dividing onto 2 to 4 plates with 1 to 5 on each.

Can I use a ready-made question set?

Choose one of these ready-made sets if you want a question list to start with.

For a small first turn, count to five or add to five. For number pairs, make ten. The teaching-order guide shows where the available sets fit and which skills are not in the game yet.

How can teachers and AI assistants build a link?

Use the link forms above, checking that every question fits the limits before you share.

  1. Choose a ready-made set first if its questions fit. Use the published set id exactly.
  2. For a custom list, use the documented question parameter and comma-separated forms shown above. Use plus, minus, x and div in shared links.
  3. Include no more than 20 questions. Keep the order unless the grown-up wants them shuffled.
  4. Explain the models alongside the link: 3x2 is three plates of two; 6div2 shares six onto two plates. Do not describe the sharing scene as a grouping game.

Teachers can send the link home. AI assistants should give the grown-up the link and briefly say which questions it contains. To let the child choose a scene, use the plain garden game.

Do we need to log in?

No: the games are free, with no sign-up, no account and nothing to install. Progress stays on this device, in the browser. Read Privacy on these pages for the anonymous visit and play counts and the switch that stops them on this device.

Questions parents ask

Is there a math game where you can put in your own questions for free?

Yes. Type up to 20 questions in the box on this page or on the game's start page. Each kind uses its own garden scene, with spoken questions. There is no sign-up or account. Check the displayed limits: questions outside them are listed with the reason and are not played.

How can I turn homework into a game?

Copy the number questions into the box, separated by commas, and keep the original order if you want to follow the homework. Use only questions within the limits shown on this page. You can share the custom game as a link; it ends with a star and "Play again".

Can I create my own math game online?

You can make a custom question list for these five garden scenes in the browser, with nothing to install. Choose counting, adding, taking away, equal groups or fair sharing within the stated limits. Use the ready-made sets if you want a starting list, or type up to 20 questions yourself.
